My Ampol journey began with my first permanent role as a process support engineer at Lytton Refinery. Since then, my career has taken me overseas, into major projects and leadership roles, and now full circle; returning to Ampol as Technical Manager in the Manufacturing team.

Learning by doing

I started my career at Lytton Refinery after graduating from the University of Queensland in 2010. Those early years gave me a strong foundation in operations, troubleshooting and site-based engineering. It was hands-on experience that helped me understand how decisions, systems and teams connect in a complex operating environment. From there, I took my skills overseas, working across design, business development and major projects with Bechtel in London, including projects for Reliance, Crossrail and CityFibre. Those experiences broadened my technical, commercial and leadership capability, and gave me a perspective I now bring back to Ampol every day.

Growing my own way

My career hasn’t followed a straight line, but each step has been meaningful. At different stages, I’ve built capability, taken on new challenges, balanced work and study, and found the confidence to lead in a way that feels authentic to me. I don’t want anyone to think I believe it’s easy or that I have it all together. I always try to keep it in context. That honesty is important to me.

Doing work that makes an impact. Today, I’m part of the Manufacturing Leadership Team at Lytton Refinery, helping lead technical capability in one of Ampol’s most important operating environments. It’s work that gives me the chance to solve practical problems, work with experienced teams and contribute to outcomes that support our customers, communities and each other.
