About the role
Ampol are recruiting for a Commercial Finance Analyst on a 12-month, fixed-term contract based in our Alexandria office with a hybrid working arrangement.

This role is responsible for delivering high-quality commercial analysis, insights, and tools to support informed decision-making. The role provides clear, practical recommendations across capital investment, including leases and working capital, business operations, and broader commercial matters. It supports the Energy Solutions team across Australia and New Zealand to drive strong financial and commercial outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure investment decisions are robust and well modelled, including the assessment and review of proposals across the Energy Solutions portfolio.
  • Partner with key business stakeholders and the Head of Finance, Energy Solutions, to support investment and operational decision making, including business case development.
  • Deliver proactive, forward looking commercial analysis, trend insights, and recommendations to support effective capital and working capital management.
  • Develop, maintain, and track Energy Solutions initiatives to address performance gaps and support long term energy transition objectives.
  • Provide oversight of the investment portfolio, delivering timely commercial insights and supporting the prioritisation of resources aligned to strategy and business objectives.
  • Support and contribute to the development of the Energy Solutions business plan, including capital and operating expenditure planning and revenue growth initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, or Economics.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in financial analysis and planning, commercial insights or corporate finance with demonstrated and growing commercial acumen.
  • Advanced analytical capability, with a strong ability to proactively identify issues and develop practical, value driven solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders to deliver high impact insights and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to build effective internal relationships and adapt communication style to suit a diverse range of stakeholders across the organisation.
