About the role  

Reporting to the National Aviation Manager, this leadership role is responsible for overseeing aviation fuel operations across NSW and ACT airport sites, driving operational excellence and ensuring the safe, compliant and reliable delivery of into-plane refuelling and depot service. 

 

Key responsibilities   

  • Leadership, Safety & Capability: Provide strategic leadership across airport operations, fostering a high-performing workforce and strong safety culture, with consistent implementation of safety management systems and operational standards. 

  • Operations & Asset Management: Lead operational strategy, asset integrity, reliability, and regulatory compliance through robust governance, assurance frameworks, and lifecycle asset planning, while driving operational discipline and quality performance across the portfolio. 

  • Fuel Quality & Service Delivery: Ensure the highest standards of fuel quality, inventory management, and refuelling operations, delivering safe, efficient, and compliant services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. 

  • Commercial & Financial Performance: Drive cost efficiency, budget performance, and capital investment programs to optimise operational outcomes and support sustainable business growth. 

  • Governance & Stakeholder Engagement: Oversee joint venture and site governance while cultivating strong relationships with regulators, airport authorities, airlines, and industry stakeholders. 

  • Planning & Execution: Prioritise, coordinate, and execute operational activities to achieve business objectives, enhance performance, and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.

Demonstrates sound judgement and decisiveness in complex environments, providing clear strategic direction while maintaining a strong focus on execution and results. 

 

Highly effective in customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement, with a demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships, influence outcomes, and collaborate across diverse groups to achieve shared goals. Above all, champions safety as a core value, fostering a safety-first mindset and ensuring safe, compliant, and risk-aware practices are embedded across all aspects of operations and decision-making. 

 

Key skills and experience

  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, controlling costs, optimising supplier performance, and delivering commercial and operational outcomes. 

  • Proven track record in leading operational performance, ensuring safe, efficient service delivery, business continuity, and achievement of strategic objectives. 

  • Strong people leadership capability, with experience developing, coaching, and motivating teams to translate business strategy into action and foster a high-performing, values-driven culture. 

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across internal and external networks. 

  • Experience managing complex contract portfolios, negotiating service-level agreements, and industrial relations matters. 

  • Highly effective communication skills, with the ability to influence, engage, and communicate clearly across all levels of the organisation, both verbally and in writing.
