About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Lytton Refinery as the Maintenance Execution Superintendent. 

You will lead and oversee maintenance execution across the refinery , ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, and to a high standard. Managing our contractors with the support of Execution Coordinators, you will drive schedule compliance, prioritise maintenance activities, and oversee performance. 

As the single point of accountability for execution, you will work closely with the Planning Superintendent and Operations to align short-term delivery with long-term plans. With a strong field presence, you will foster a culture of safety, productivity, and reliability across the maintenance function. 

 

Key responsibilities  

  • Lead, coach, and oversee direct reports and contractors.  

  • Ensure all short-term maintenance is executed safely, on schedule, and to standard.  

  • Monitor schedule compliance, backlog, and emergent work; approve overtime in line with priorities.  

  • Coordinate unplanned outages (excluding major maintenance/turnarounds).  

  • Drive execution KPIs, including schedule compliance, break-ins, first-start, overtime, and HSE performance.  

  • Provide performance input and manage escalations relating to contractors, resources, and readiness.  

  • Maintain strong alignment and communication with Operations and the Planning Superintendent.  

  • Promote continuous improvement, standardise execution practices, and demonstrate visible safety leadership in the field. 

 

About you:  

You are a natural leader with a proven experience in a similar role and a strong focus on embedding a positive and safety culture. You are self-driven and highly committed; you bring a strong work ethic to everything you do.  

Your diverse communication and strong stakeholder management, combined with your maintenance and people leadership capability enable you to excel in this role and deliver positive business outcomes.  

You are passionate about problem-solving, with a deep commitment to safety, efficiency and continuous improvement. 

 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Tertiary Degree or Trade qualified 

  • Proven experience in people leadership and maintenance within a major hazard facility or high-risk environment  

  • Strong commercial acumen with well-developed strategic and change management capabilities  

  • Solid knowledge of EH&S requirements and maintenance best practices, with strong decision-making, communication, and influencing skills  

  • Experience in maintenance management, machinery design, condition monitoring, and failure analysis (desirable)  

  • Project management experience and exposure to capital planning (desirable) 

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
