Job Description

The objective of the Deployment team is to support our energy offering to ensure we continue to meet the ongoing needs of our customers. The Deployment Manager will execute the project delivery and installation of EV chargers in line with Ampol’s ambition of being the most utilised EV charging network in Australia. The role will also be involved in other energy related projects (e.g. solar and battery storage). 

You will be reporting to the Senior Deployment Manager as well as working cross-functionally with the Asset Operations and Network Planning Teams to ensure internal alignment on timing, scale and location of charge points and other assets. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Project Management of feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning of all assets (charge points, solar and battery) 
  • Monitor, report and deliver within agreed timelines and budgets. Proactively managing risks issues and dependencies. 
  • Maintain reporting and coordinate cross functionality to ensure deployment process contains relevant external inputs. 
  • Develop relationships with multiple contractors, distribution network service providers and supply partners to ensure the timely installation of EV chargers on Ampol forecourts and 3rd party locations.  
  • Liaise with 3rd party landowners where required to co-ordinate site-works and ensure a positive experience for them. 

Qualifications

You demonstrate a nimble and proactive mindset and the ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders including vendors, business owners, customers, government, and internal teams to achieve the strategic goals of the organisation. You are an outcome focused manager with previous experience in delivery of a Rapid, or Ultra-Rapid, EV Installation Programs; with the ability to guide third parties through to task completion and the flexibility to adapt available resources. 

Key skills and experience: 

  • Experience overseeing a rapid/ultra-rapid EV installation program and/or the rollout of energy related infrastructure. 
  • Experience managing projects in commercial or industrial settings, including assurance of HSE elements. 
  • Experience dealing with selection of site power requirements, applications with DNSPs and managing necessary approvals. 
  • To be successful in the Deployment team you will demonstrate an agile mindset, you will be able to thrive when faced with ambiguity and aspire to greater challenges within your role.   
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics, or an Electrical Trade with Project Management experience is highly regarded.
