About our Finance Business Unit
Our Finance Team are responsible for producing the financial scorecard for Z, accounting for all cash in and out of Z, maintaining the accuracy of our financial records of our assets and paying our taxes. 

About the role
With one of the team heading off on parental leave we have an opportunity to join us in the role of Kaikaute Ahumoni Mātāmua Senior Financial Accountant for a 14-month period, including handover and hand back time. This would ideally start mid/late September 2026.

You will step into a leadership role providing the delivery of timely and accurate financial information. This role also has a focus on process improvement and efficiencies and acts as a coach and mentor to the wider team.

We are looking for a technically strong accountant with the people skills to lead the workflow and provide coaching and mentorship. You will have the opportunity to

• Work closely with the Financial Reporting Manager to take a key role in delivering month end, including reporting
• Complete financial accounting activities and maintain the chart of accounts and other financial systems
• Lead the monthly Ampol group reporting process and audit process for Z
• Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies in the financial accounting space
• Prepare statutory accounts and reporting to the Ampol group
• Guide team members in their tasks, reviewing work and provide coaching and advice
• Complete technical accounting assessments and make recommendations for accounting treatments
• Contribute to projects within the business where financial reporting input is required

What you’ll bring to Z

• CA qualified with 3-5+ years post qual experience ideally in a large commercial environment
• Solid understanding of accounting standards
• Experience in financial reporting and statutory accounts
• Leadership experience, while this role doesn’t have direct reports it is a senior role within the team so will guide and review work and provide coaching and mentoring to the team
• The ability to own tasks, use your initiative and also share your knowledge
• Demonstrated experience in identifying and making process improvements
• Experience in making recommendations and backing those up with data and knowledge
• Great communication skills, this role will see you work across our business
• High capability with the Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel
• The ability to commit to a fixed term contract

The base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $170,000 per annum; we also offer a 5% KiwiSaver employer contribution.
