About the role 

The role will work with the Energy Solutions Accounting and Reporting team to ensure timely, accurate and complete preparation of financial and management reporting for all Energy Solutions business areas. This will include but not be limited to, facilitating the month end close, month end reporting and variance analysis, budget and forecasting and assisting with ad hoc finance queries from the wider Energy Solutions team, as required. 

Key responsibilities 

  • Assist with preparation of monthly management reports, including variance analysis for projects and cost centres.  

  • Assist with financial accounting for Energy Solutions business units, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.  

  • Ensure financial information aligns with Ampol’s accounting policies as well as with accounting standards. Manage IT Management reporting and the Fixed Asset capitalisation process for Energy Solutions.  

  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure adherence with internal controls.  

  • Develop and enhance processes so that organisational capability remains effective and efficient, able to adapt to business needs and aligned with industry best practices.  

  • Assist the Finance team with ad hoc accounting and administrative tasks such as initial drafting of accounting memos.  

  • Manage the financial PowerBi dashboard. Assist with budget inputs and system uploads.  

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance or working towards, with a desire to complete the CA or CPA program supported by Ampol. 

  • 1 to 2 years experience in a finance or accounting based role, either in house or in a professional practice, internship or other. 

  • Bookkeeping or management accounting experience. 

  • Sound understanding of key accounting principles. 

  • Experience with accounting systems and applications. 

  • Experience in effectively planning and managing concurrent deliverables. 

  • Strong attention to detail. 

  • Ability to interpret financial data and information. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication and relationship building skills. 

  • Commitment to continuous improvement. 

  • Demonstrate an agile mindset and an ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritising based on key deadlines.
