About the role

Ampol’s Operations and Partnering team plays a critical role in turning Ampol’s technology strategy into real-world results. We work closely with business units to identify, prioritise, and deliver initiatives that align with our business goals—while carefully tracking the value each initiative brings to the Ampol Group.


The Technology Business Partner will act as the strategic interface for TDD to shape, prioritise, and deliver technology-enabled business value for initiatives across Ampol Group Functions and TDD. Working closely with senior leaders and executives, this role will shape demand, drive prioritisation, and foster trusted partnerships to design and implement roadmaps, drive digital transformation, and deliver measurable outcomes for Corporate functions and TDD.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key strategic technology partner to Group Functions and Tech, Digital and Data, fostering deep alignment between technology direction and the commercial objectives of Group Functions and TDD.
  • Build trusted relationships at the executive level, maintain ongoing visibility into Group strategy, and proactively identify opportunities where technology can unlock competitive advantage, enhance performance, and drive growth.
  • Provide strategic oversight to ensure technology solutions are user-centric, commercially viable, and tightly aligned with business objectives.
  • Champion a cross-functional approach that balances innovation with practical delivery, ensuring solutions meet both operational needs and long-term strategic goals.
  • Translate complex business needs into practical, scalable technology solutions, delivering commercial impact and enhancing efficiency.
  • Drive prioritisation and investment decisions that translate business vision into scalable, high-impact technology outcomes through robust business case development, ROI modelling, and benefits realisation frameworks.
  • Shape demand into structured needs with benefits, prioritising based on value and capacity, support the business cases and drive value realisation.
  • Serve as the front door between the business units and TDD, while being deeply embedded in both the technology landscape and corporate/TDD.
  • Provide strategic insights and act as a peer, helping business units design, challenge, and implement strategic plans.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven business partnering experience in complex, multi-location or distributed operational environments – with experience steering technology demand within corporate functions
  • Strong expertise in enterprise technology ecosystems, and digital technologies, with demonstrated ability to translate commercial and operational priorities into scalable, user-centric technology solutions
  • Experience shaping business demand into clear, actionable initiatives.
  • Proven ability to align technology initiatives with business strategy and deliver measurable outcomes, supported by strong commercial acumen and an understanding of ROI, trade-offs, and value realisation
  • Experience in defining and delivering product and platform roadmaps that support strategic growth and operational excellence
  • Cross-functional leadership capability, with a history of building trusted partnerships with senior business and operations stakeholders, with an ability to influence and advise at an executive level.
  • Ability to balance short-term tactical needs with long-term strategic vision in dynamic, high-growth environments
  • Deep understanding of how to leverage technology to improve customer experience, operational performance, and agility
  • Bring external knowledge, insights, and best practices into Ampol, ensuring alignment with industry trends and technology capabilities.
