About the role

The Settlements Officer will be a pivotal member of the finance team in Trading and Shipping, responsible for overseeing settlements and finance function in the US office. The appointed individual will:

  • Manage the invoice booking and verification process for cargo, freight and ancillary invoices
  • Oversee the financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and optimize resources.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor due dates to ensure timely receipt and issuance of invoices
  • Validate and process invoices covering purchases and sales, freight, ancillary charges, and demurrage.
  • Clear receipts and payments and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve issues.
  • Deliver accurate, timely financial reports and manage assigned financial functions.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the line manager.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Diploma or higher in Accounting / Business/Finance
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Settlements or Finance in the Oil and Gas industry 
  • Knowledge of accounting principles 
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with SAP and CTRM system
  • Meticulous, hands-on and pay attention to details
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, can successfully identify process improvements
  • Understanding of commodity trading life cycle
  • Understanding on basic contract law
