About the Role

We are looking for an AI Market Intelligence Intern to support the development of an AI-powered market intelligence platform for our derivatives trading desk in Singapore.

 

This role sits at the intersection of energy markets, quantitative analysis and applied AI. You’ll work with market research, live pricing data and news feeds to help generate real-time insights, identify shifts in market sentiment and support trader decision-making.

 

You’ll gain hands-on exposure to commodity derivatives markets, AI workflows and trading operations while working alongside experienced traders.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, structure and maintain research reports from banks, brokers and independent providers for AI-assisted analysis
  • Develop the maintain data pipelines ingesting live market data, pricing information and news feeds
  • Assist in building prompt engineering workflows and structured output extraction using LLM tools such as Claude or similar models
  • Analyse research views against current oil derivative forward curves and volatility surfaces to identify meaningful deviations
  • Produce daily and intraday summaries highlighting shifts in market sentiment, positioning and emerging themes
  • Maintain version-controlled records of market view changes to support trend analysis and retrospective reviews
  • Present findings to the trading desk in a clear, concise and commercially relevant format
  • Develop ongoing enhancements to AI tools and workflows based on trader feedback


About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong analytical capability with curiosity about financial markets and a genuine interest in applied AI.

 

You’ll ideally bring:

 

  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • A demonstrated interest in commodity or financial markets
  • Proficiency in Python, including data manipulation, API integration and text processing
  • Exposure to large language models, prompt engineering or AI workflows
  • The ability to distil complex information into clear, actionable insights
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under time pressure
  • A collaborative mindset and desire to contribute in a fast-paced trading environment
  • Intellectual curiosity, resilience and a willingness to challenge assumptions

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Singapore university (NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD, SIT or equivalent)
  • Studying Computer Science, Data Science, Financial Engineering, Economics, Mathematics or a related discipline
  • Availability for a full-time 6-month internship
  • Proficiency in Python and data-related libraries
  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets or commodities

 

Preferred

  • Previous internship experience in banking, trading, quantitative research or financial services
  • Exposure to energy markets or commodity derivatives
  • Familiarity with NLP libraries, vector databases or AI tooling
  • Working knowledge of SQL and cloud platforms
  • Understanding of options pricing, volatility or forward curve analysis
